Special Wines

2013 Vintage Dom Perignon Champagne (estimated value: $300): the Rolls Royce of Champagnes! This is James Bond’s preferred drink, but 007 is not the only onscreen character to sip these bubbles. Jennifer Aniston (Friends), Dan Akroyd (The Blues Brothers), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City), Bruce Willis (Die Hard III), Arsenio Hall (Coming to America), and MANY MORE have enjoyed Dom on screen.  Join them in a bottle of this regal bubbly!

Critics Note: 96 pts, Wine Spectator: “Vivid acidity and a chalky underpinning make a crystalline frame for finely detailed notes of ripe melon, mandarin orange, toasted brioche and candied ginger in this harmonious Champagne, which is expressive and expansive on the palate, but with a sense of finesse and restraint. Long and creamy on the mineral-laced finish. Drink now through 2037.”

2017 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley California MAGNUM (2-bottles in one) (estimated value: $350): Home to the biggest release party in Napa Valley every year, Silver Oak makes a wine that is uniquely American. Silver Oak’s fan base for its rich cabernet includes Oprah Winfrey, Lebron James and Matthew McConaughey, to name a few.  Gather family and friends, fire up the grill, and enjoy this MAGNUM Bottle of Silver Oak Cabernet.

Critics Note: 96 Points, James Suckling: “This is a big upgrade in finesse and clarity to such a popular, premium cabernet from Napa. It shows lots of blackberry, tar, cedar and oak-tree aromas that follow through to a full yet toned palate of fine, integrated tannins and a vivid finish. Owner David Duncan explained that the American oak they use in the wine for aging now comes 100% from their own barrel-making facilities, which tones down the vanilla character in the wine. Really impressive and delicious. It’s a joy to drink now, but can age.”

2015 Opus One, Bordeaux Blend, Napa Valley California (estimated value $450): started in 1979 as a collaboration between Robert Mondavi and the Rothschilds of Bordeaux and quickly made famous in restaurants around the world. One of the best California wines year in and year out! No need to find a special occasion … opening this bottle IS the special occasion. Save it for 20 years, or open now and enjoy. The choice is yours

Critics Note: 97 Points, Antonio Galloni Vinous: “The 2015 Opus One is a terrific example of the year. Super-ripe and flamboyant in style, with tons of fruit pushed forward, the 2015 has a lot to offer. Today, the primary intensity of the fruit and some of the new oak need time to subside, but there is a lot to look forward to. A rush of super-ripe red cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and wild flowers build into the huge, creamy finish.
