Concord Children’s Center’s curriculum is guided by decades of research demonstrating that the best foundation for a young child’s development and future learning is open-ended, child-initiated play. CCC integrates knowledge and skill building into children’s purposeful play. Our low child-to-teacher ratios, experienced and well-trained faculty and staff, and supportive learning environments are integral to our approach: a program tailored to children’s individual learning styles.
Curriculum
Our curriculum provides the framework for what happens in the classroom where children interact with materials, peers, and adults. Our teachers are trained to both guide and follow children as they learn. We select classroom materials and activities to encourage inquiry — a critical skill that will carry children through future learning. By strengthening the social and emotional competency of children, CCC aims to create learners who can take risks, work cooperatively, and — most importantly — enjoy the process of learning and growing.
Our teaching strategies encourage children to explore, observe, discover, and make meaning of the world around them. Teachers carefully design classrooms to promote learning by creating security and stability to free the young child to be curious, to become involved in play, and to discover.
Inclusion Policy
CCC is committed to including all learners in our programs. By hiring and retaining well-trained early childhood professionals, we are able to provide additional support for children who require more focused, consistent attention in particular areas of development. When required, we are able to assist families in obtaining additional support services.
CCC promotes early detection and programming for children with special needs. We enjoy a reciprocal relationship with many area family and child service providers―including Early Intervention and the Concord Public Schools―and will help parents identify special needs and locate testing and supplemental services if necessary. We believe that early treatment is essential to a child’s optimal development.
We believe in the importance of
- recognizing each child’s unique abilities, range of development, and learning style
- teaching and supporting children by building on each child’s strengths
- supporting children by providing teachers with the support they need to ensure the success of all children
- working collaboratively with families to assure children’s success at CCC
